Limits for investment and derivatives counterparties are based on the total number of inhabitants in the municipalities and county councils that are members of Kommuninvest. The calculation of the number of inhabitants in a member county council excludes those already included as inhabitants of member municipalities and includes remaining inhabitants at a factor of 0.5 as follows: Total number of inhabitants = total number of inhabitants in member municipalities + (total number of inhabitants in member county councils - county inhabitants already included)x 0.5.
The total limit for an investment or derivatives counterparty is calculated based on the total number of inhabitants and a predetermined exposure per inhabitant and counterparty (see table below).
Example: As of 30 June 2010, the total number of inhabitants amounted to approximately 5.7 million persons. At that time, the limit for an Aa2/AA rated counterparty amounted to SEK 570 million for maturities of one to three years (5.7 million x SEK 100 = SEK 570 million).
Exceeding the partial limit is permitted for a certain maturity, but the excess amount shall then be transferred to an unutilised partial limit with longer maturity.
